Vanilla & Strawberry Iced Tea

Michele Lillie

Take your iced tea to the next level with the wonderful flavors of vanilla, strawberries and herbs.

This recipe is for one serving, but increase to serve more people.

A tall glass of yellowish iced tea with mashed strawberries on the bottom, a lemon slice and herbs in the glass. A plate of strawberries sets in the background and to the left is a plate of loose leaf tea.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Black loose-leaf tea
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 fresh strawberries
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 of a lemon, sliced
  • 2 sprigs of fresh herbs, such as thyme or rosemary
  • Ice cubes

Directions

Step 1

Put the tea leaves in a teapot. Pour over the hot water and steep for 5 minutes. Strain out the tea leaves and set the liquid aside.

Step 2

In a tall, 16-ounce serving glass, mash the strawberries on the bottom with a muddler or wooden spoon. Add the honey, lemon slices, herb sprigs and ice cubes.

Step 3

Pour the brewed tea into the glass and serve.

Notes

If you wish a stronger vanilla flavor, increase the amount of tea leaves to 1½ - 2 tablespoons.

You may also cold brew the vanilla tea. Put 1-2 tablespoons of tea in a pitcher and pour over 2 cups of cold water. Allow to steep for a few hours or even overnight. Use in place of the hot brewed tea in the recipe

The first time you cold brew a new tea, taste every 30-60 minutes until you find your preferred flavor. See this blog post for more information.
