We are now offering some teas with CBD in tea bags for
brewing at home. Initially they will be Snowflake, English Breakfast, Earl Grey
and Turmeric Bliss. These will be $10.75 for 4 tea bags. Other flavors will be
added in the future. See tea descriptions at the bottom of the page.
Why are we offering CBD (cannabidiol)?
Visiting the Tea Festival in Los Angeles in August I came
across a company selling tea bags with CBD. They were promoting these on the
benefits of helping you relax and as pain relief.
Having had back surgery, that did not work as hoped, I had to
try some. For me it has helped, and I have tried it in different situations
many times to give me the confidence to offer this in the Café. The pain has
not always completely gone away but a lot less severe. Not an expert on CBD but
read many articles – check out the Harvard link below. I am sure it will not help everyone, but it is
a simple way to try and enjoy tea at the same time. Why not find out? Rob

Additional CBD information
Despite their similar chemical structures, and coming from the same
source, CBD (a cannabidiol) and THC
(tetrahydrocannabinol) don’t have the same psychoactive effects. In fact, CBD
is a nonpsychoactive compound. That means it doesn’t produce the “high” associated
with THC. It is also legal for us to sell as it is considered a health
CBD is commonly
used to address anxiety, and for patients who suffer through the misery of
insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling
asleep and staying asleep. CBD may help manage chronic pain by
affecting the brain's response to pain signals. According to popular
opinion, it might just be the swiss army knife of medicine.

CBD alone is great but is expensive
and price prohibitive for many consumers. It’s also difficult to formulate with
and incorporate into retail products. CBD in oil form does not absorb well in
the stomach, but self-emulsifying CBD powder does.
This means that when using a water
miscible (soluble) CBD product, you don’t have to use as much CBD. A 1mg dose
will deliver the equivalent of a 5-10mg dose of an oil-based product.
The water-soluble CBD that we are
buying can completely dissolve into our tea drinks and smoothies with a higher
CBD potency from a lower dose.
